SuperSlab+ Foundation, concrete foundation nz

DesignHub is supporting the specification of Farmcrete, a purpose-designed rural concrete developed by Allied Concrete to meet the demanding conditions of New Zealand’s agricultural environments. Engineered for durability, chemical resistance, and reduced embodied carbon, Farmcrete provides a practical and robust solution for modern farm infrastructure where long-term performance is essential.

Designed for Harsh Agricultural Environments

Farm environments present some of the harshest conditions for concrete. Effluent exposure, silage acids, livestock traffic, heavy machinery movement, and frequent washdown cycles all place sustained stress on slabs and pavements. Farmcrete has been developed specifically to address these challenges, with improved density, reduced permeability, and enhanced resistance to acidic attack and abrasion.

Farmcrete is suitable for a wide range of rural applications, including dairy yards and milking platforms, feed pads, raceways and laneways, silage pits, workshops, washdown areas, and livestock housing. Wherever concrete is driven on, walked on, scraped, washed, or exposed to aggressive agricultural conditions, careful specification is critical to ensure durability and service life.

Fibre Reinforcement for Efficiency and Performance

A key feature of Farmcrete is fibre reinforcement pre-mixed into every load. This removes the need for traditional steel mesh in many applications, reducing installation time, labour requirements, and site congestion while maintaining structural performance under heavy use. For demanding farm conditions, a 30 MPa mix is recommended to provide improved resistance to chemical exposure and mechanical wear.

Lower Embodied Carbon with Ecrete™

Farmcrete is produced using Allied Concrete’s low-carbon concrete mix, Ecrete™, supporting more sustainable rural construction without compromising strength or durability. Through optimised mix design and the use of supplementary cementitious materials, Ecrete™ reduces embodied carbon while maintaining performance suited to agricultural infrastructure. Environmental Product Declaration data is available to assist with transparent and informed specification decisions.
